to Talking Walls
Just a few years ago, the space that now houses Talking Walls was an old auto body shop in Brown Deer. Today, it’s one of Milwaukee’s most inspiring design destinations, a boutique-meets-studio where homeowners and designers alike come to connect, collaborate, and create.
Our founder, Jodi, began her journey not as a designer, but as a self-proclaimed “design junkie” who simply loved the process of transforming spaces. After spending her free time helping customers at Milwaukee’s beloved legacy wallpaper store, Wallpaper Wallpaper, Jodi realized she wasn’t just choosing patterns, she was helping people tell their stories.
When the opportunity arose to take over the business in 2022, she didn’t just keep it going; she reimagined it entirely. With the help of a local architecture firm, Jodi transformed the space into a boutique showroom that feels more like a design lounge than a store. Talking Walls was born, a place where creativity breathes, and every wall gets a voice

Meet the Dynamic Duo Behind Talking Walls
Jodi Lurie
Founder and Lead Strategist
Growing up on the East Coast, creativity and storytelling were always part of Jodi’s world. With a master’s degree in marketing and communications, she built a career helping brands find their voice, long before realizing she wanted to help people do the same for their homes.
After moving to Wisconsin, Jodi’s love for transformation took on new meaning. What began as a passion for creating beautiful, intentional spaces quickly evolved into something deeper: a fascination with how pattern, texture, and color could completely change the way a room feels. A few rolls of wallpaper soon turned her own spaces into something alive, layered, and full of personality.
That curiosity led her into the world of wallcoverings, where she discovered the perfect balance between artistry and storytelling, and Talking Walls was born. More than a showroom, it’s a space where design, confidence, and connection come together, helping clients find their style and tell their story through their walls.
For Jodi, it’s never just about wallpaper. It’s about the story it tells, the energy it creates, and how it makes you feel in your space. Because walls aren’t just backgrounds, they’re the foundation of how a room feels, a reflection of your personality, and the first impression of the experience you want others to have within it.
Michele Flemma
Creative Director
With an eye for detail and a background that blends fine art, design, and hands-on renovation, Michele brings a multidimensional perspective to every wall she touches.
Michele’s love of design started early, growing up in a family who built and renovated their own homes. That creative foundation led her to earn a BFA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, followed by over a decade as an art director in Milwaukee and Sheboygan, where she honed her talent for composition, color, and storytelling through design.
Wanting to build on her creative foundation, Michele studied at the New York Institute of Interior Design, where she fell in love with the way color, texture, and scale can completely change how a space feels. She later launched Foxhaus Design, a studio she founded to bring new life to homes through thoughtful renovations and flips, blending her artistic background with hands-on design. Working alongside a Milwaukee designer helped her refine her eye and perfect the balance between creative instinct and practical know-how.
At Talking Walls, Michele is the strategist who sees the big picture and the fine print. She has an intuitive ability to coordinate wallcoverings, fabrics, and paint colors into cohesive, elevated spaces that feel effortlessly personal. Her design philosophy is simple yet sophisticated: every wall deserves its own story, and she’s here to help you tell it beautifully.
